Verizon doesn't want to be the bad guy and completely get rid of its old unlimited data plans, so it's pursuing a new strategy: price customers out of them. <i style="box-sizing: border-box;">The Verge</i> has learned that Verizon will soon raise the monthly cost of grandfathered unlimited data plans by an additional $20 per line to $49.99. A friendly tipster clued us in on the change, and when contacted for comment, a Verizon spokesperson confirmed the news. The new rate will apply beginning in November.</div>

For customers determined to remain on the unlimited plan, Verizon will now let them purchase new smartphones through its monthly device payment plan; previously, you could only buy phones outright at their full retail cost. <br /><br /> Tata Docomo has launched roaming plans for its postpaid and prepay customers across all circles. These plans are available for prices ranging between INR 49 and INR 225 for postpaid subscribers, and between INR 76 and INR 91 for prepay customers, offering reduced local and outgoing STD call rates and unlimited free incoming calls.<br /><br />Postpaid subscribers can opt for tariff plans of INR 49, 99, 149, 199 and 225. Customers will pay a monthly rental of the same value to avail all Local and STD outgoing calls on roaming at 60p/min, 50p/min, 35p/min, 25p/min and 50p/min respectively. Postpaid customers opting for the first four plans will also have access to fee incoming calls on the Tata Docomo network for one month. The plan at INR 225 will allow customers to access free incoming calls on all networks.<br /><br />Prepay customers who activate the INR 76 and 91 plans will have to recharge at the same value to avail all local and STD outgoing calls on roaming at 30p/min, and 50p/min respectively. Prepay customers opting for the plans will have access to free incoming calls on network for a week. Users who activate the INR 76 and INR 91 plans will also have access to free talk time of INR 25 and INR 40, respectively.</div>

BSNL Launches Unlimited Data Plans for Postpaid Users in North Zone

State-run BSNL on Wednesday launched two unlimited data plans for its postpaid users of North Zone, targeted towards the youth and students.<br />

The unlimited plans will be offered across the country subsequently, the company said in a statement.<br />

Currently the packs will be available in Haryana, Punjab, UP (West), UP (East), Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Jammu & Kashmir for GSM mobile postpaid customers.<br />
<br />
"The new add-on data packs 240 and 340, allow unlimited data usage at monthly charges of Rs. 240 and Rs. 340 respectively," BSNL said.<br />
<br />
However, customers will get reduced speed of 80Kbps after using up their data cap of 1GB or 2GB download (respectively) on the packs.<br />
<br />
"This offer is initially for North Zone circles and subsequently it will be offered in all other circles as well. The offer is especifically useful for student community and youths," BSNL Board Director (Consumer Mobility) Anupam Shrivastava said.<br />

Earlier this month, BSNL announced a USSD-based service wherein its mobile customers will be able to access Facebook without any Internet or data connectivity.<br />

BSNL users will be charged Rs. 4, Rs. 10 and Rs. 20 for 3 days, weekly and monthly plans, respectively, the company said in a statement. The public sector telecom firm has tied up with U2opia Mobile to provide <a href="http://gadgets.ndtv.com/tags/facebook">Facebook</a> access through USSD in East and South zones immediately, while the service will be launched shortly in West and North zones.<br />
<br />
Unstructured supplementary service data (USSD) technology is used by telecom operators to send alerts to their users. It can be used for pre-paid call-back service, location-based content services and menu-based information services.</div>

BSNL has added two new Broadband unlimited tariff plans with fair usage limit. These two plans are “BBG Combo ULD 1445” and “BBG Combo ULD 2799” to be offered on promotional basis in all circles for 90 days from 10th May’14.  The plan 1445 offers speed upto 2 Mbps till 20 GB and 1Mbps afterwards. The plan 2799 offers more speed i.e. upto 4 Mbps till 30 GB and 2 Mbps afterwards. Thus technically now BSNL has truly unlimited plan at 2Mbps speed for Rs.2799. Further, both these plans being Combo offers 250 free calls.<br />
